    MISSION

Our mission is to guide and empower clients through a just transition framework, elevating their environmental justice portfolios and environmental policies.

This framework is seamlessly integrated into the very fabric of organizations or communities, influencing their structures, missions, policies, and programs.

THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM: CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate science research, the impacts of climate change such as rising sea levels, coastal storms, extreme temperatures, and natural disasters will continue to worsen if immediate actions are not taken.

Climate change has caused massive destruction in different countries and has adversely affected all continents. Examples include the incessant California wildfires, Florida Hurricane Ian (2022) and Texas winter storm (2021) in the United States, flooding in Nigeria (2022), deadly heatwaves in Europe, devastating floods in Pakistan etc.

The consequences of climate change, coupled with actions like pollution disproportionately harm communities of color and low-income communities (collectively referred to as “disadvantaged communities”). Research indicates that these communities will struggle to cope with extreme heat due to the costs associated with air conditioning. Coupled to this is the lack of resources to combat pollution-related harms in these low-income neighborhoods. This disparity fueled my dedication to environmental justice

Advocating for disadvantaged communities led me to focus my doctoral research on this subject with a critical emphasis on “climate and environmental justice” as a way of advocating for the interest of disadvantaged communities. My dissertation, titled “Green Criminology and Environmental Justice: An Exploratory Analysis of Oil Spills in North America” delves deeper into this area. Fighting environmental pollution is an ongoing battle as certain actions or inactions of polluting corporations can result in criminal offenses, e.g. The Deepwater Horizon Oil spill of 2010.

    WHY AM I INTERESTED?

My “WHYS” in life revolve around two core principles: environmental justice and environmental protection. First, I passionately advocate for equitable measures that uplift marginalized and disadvantaged communities. This commitment is deeply rooted in my Biblical faith, particularly inspired by Proverbs 31:8, of the Holy Bible which encourages us to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.”

Secondly, I see myself as a steward of the Earth, emphasizing my dedication to environmental protection. Genesis 2:15 of the Holy Bible highlighted that the creator made humans to care for the Garden of Eden.

The above is solely my opinion and was mentioned because it shaped the person I am today. The statements above are in no way intended to elicit any spiritual or religious considerations.
